A 1,500-square-foot exhibit reveals the magic of nature as a master engineer. Three robot animals and seven hands-on activities illustrate the fascinating real-life characteristics of animals. Visitors learn how a chameleon changes colors and a fly walks on the ceiling. The larger-than-life-size animated robots featured include a chameleon and a platypus. There is also a giant house fly with a 3-foot wingspread. This exhibit will be located at the UTPA Visitor Center from Oct. 7 to Jan. 3.
It is open to the general public free of charge.

We are very excited for the return of the NASA exhibit, which will feature its Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover Model, a replica of the Rover that is currently exploring Mars. The Rover carries "the biggest, most-advanced suite of instruments for scientific studies ever sent to the Mars surface." Its assignment for the Real Curiosity while in Space: Investigate whether conditions have been favorable for microbial life and for preserving clues in the rocks about possible past life.
Our UTPA Colleges - College of Science and Mathematics and College of Engineering and Computer Science - will open their doors to our community by showcasing the best of their students' talent and research in STEM through exciting and hands-on activities.
Sit back and discover what was once deemed unreachable at HEB's Planetarium. A 28-minute movie will follow the creation of NASA's Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX), the spacecraft that explores the boundaries of our solar system. Learn about the universe through this high-tech presentation and be ready to launch your imagination into space.
Navigate through high-tech displays and interactive demonstrations with the U.S. Navy. Ride a dune buggy or maneuver underwater robots in this exhibition of assets. Be exposed to the cutting-edge technology used by the global force for good.
Sharing the exhibit space will be SpaceX, the company that is revolutionizing "space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets." SpaceX is the private rocket company considering building a commercial launch site in Cameron County, Texas for private orbital and suborbital spaceflights.
Enjoy all of HESTEC's Community Day activities with an order of tacos or a funnel cake. Dozens of vendors will sell a variety of snacks and antojitos fit for the whole family. Food makes everything better, so come hungry and don't forget to enjoy the family-friendly games located throughout the campus, including the infamous dunk tank.
